Hello, fans and followers!
I haven't updated the site in a while, but I'm pleased to announce the completion of the first draft of book 2 of my Brethren of the Spanish Main series! Now I just have to do an initial round of edits before farming it out to my beta readers and editors, but the most time and focus-intensive piece is done! The title and book design is another matter, but I intend to tackle that during my editing process.
My hope is to have the book out in hardcover in time to launch it at CoreCon in Fargo, ND this year as I'm hosting a pirate-themed room party there (the convention itself is pirate-themed this year as well). However, I've floated hopeful release dates to many of you before and obviously I won't sacrifice the quality just to get it out faster, so stay tuned for more updates.
On that note, I have begun the convention season already this year with Capricon in the Chicago area. Aside from that and my book signing at The Source Comics & Games this Saturday, you should be able to find me at the following conventions:
Marscon Bloomington, MN Mar 4-6, 2016
Minicon Bloomington, MN Mar 25-27, 2016
Odyssey Con Madison, WI April 8-10, 2016
Planet Comicon Kansas City, MO May 20-22, 2016
ConQuest Kansas City, MO May 27-29, 2016
WisCon Madison, WI May 27-29, 2016
CoreCon Fargo, ND Jun 9-12, 2016
CONvergence Bloomington, MN Jun 30-July 3, 2016
WorldCon Kansas City, MO Aug 17-21, 2016
I'm hoping to attend the Printer's Row Lit Fest in Chicago, IL on Jun 4-5 with my friend and colleague, Blake Hausladen, but the jury is still out on that.
It is also my intention to slide my way into DragonCon in Atlanta, GA this year on Aug 26-29, but it will require planning through other colleagues as DragonCon is pretty difficult to break into as a self-published author with only a couple of books at a vendor/artist's table.
If you are a convention or event organizer and wish to schedule an appearance with me, please contact me through this website. I intend to have an aggressive panel schedule whenever possible as I find people really respond to my words when I participate in discussion panels.
For those eagerly awaiting my next book, I should give you fair warning that I intend to give discount coupons for the hardcover editions to those who have given me reviews on Amazon or Goodreads, with the deepest discounts going to those who do both! Amazon reviewers: please remember to state IN THE REVIEW if you bought the book directly from me at a convention. This will encourage Amazon not to take the review down as it is not tied to a verified Amazon purchase. Thank you to all those who have written reviews, and remember: 5 stars doesn't mean it's perfect like in figure skating; it means (according to Amazon) that you LOVED the book. Eventually when I do the whole series in dramatized audio format, these reviews will help quite a bit, and I look forward to showing my gratitude by giving those discounts on the next volume.
More updates soon!
